At STREET THRILLS we live & breathe car culture. We are particularly passionate about all things drift, tōuge, and the legendary JDM cars of the 80s and 90s.
While other kids had posters of Lamborghinis (or God forbid, boy-bands) plastering their walls, we grew up dreaming of legendary JDM hero cars. Raised on a steady diet of Initial D, Fast & Furious and Gran Turismo, it was inevitable really… it’s just in our blood.
The 90s in particular were a golden era for JDM car enthusiasts. Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Subaru all produced amazing sports car offerings during this period. These ranged from agile, lightweight tōuge legends like the AE86, Silvia and Miata/MX-5, to rally heroes like the WRX and Lancer Evolution. Of course who could forget the highly-tuned monsters that dominated highways and racetracks from Tokyo to every corner of the globe—cars like the mighty Toyota Supra, Honda NSX, and Nissan GTR.
It’s hard to argue that modern sports cars can compete with the pure fun and simplicity of 90s JDM cars. Nevertheless many modern JDM cars have captured our hearts too. We love everything from the ND Miata and 86/BRZ twins to the Civic Type R and latest Nissan Z and Supra models. We’re thrilled that such options even exist in these dying days of the manual gearbox and internal combustion engine.
